Social Media Rules the Business World in 2015. Find out why!

social media trends

Looking for Social Media to provide free traffic to your posts is an approach that is no longer bringing the results it was 2 years ago. The main reason for this is that the main social media platforms are changing their business model and charging for their services. To be clear, they are now charging for their services in exchange for prioritising your posts in other users news feeds.   This has had several dramatic implications for those who use social media to promote their business.

The first is that the companies that have spent millions on ads to build their fan base are less than delighted about the practice of boosting. This is compounded by the fact that post ads are far less effective than post boosting.

The second is that a monopoly on specific aspects of online posting/publishing is going to drive the price of advertising even higher. This increase in price will occur at the same time as the adverts become less effective. Companies who use ads to post will be fighting over a decreasing amount of market share.

According to leading statistics provider Statista, by the end of 2015,  social selling will amount to $30 billion worldwide, a 50% increase over 2014’s $20 billion.

Here is an example of a post that has not been boosted:

Forbes Facebook fanpage currently has over 2,000,000 fans. I spent some time reviewing the Facebook users engagement with Facebook posts.  Engagement never exceeds 500 likes. Do you think that if the post was boosted so that it appeared in their fans news feed, the number of likes and shares would have risen dramatically?

What does that say to you? Remember, this is Forbes Magazine!

Here’s why everyone is on Youtube and Vimeo in 2015:

YouTube itself has created a vast market and unlimited opportunities to individuals, companies and smart marketers to make millions of dollars just by sharing their content. It has been observed that thousands of people are living only off of their Youtube channel earnings and they live a good life by simply finding their niche and doing what they love.

The numbers will continue growing because Google Adsense and Youtube Revenues are becoming available to more and more countries worldwide.

Pinterest keeps on growing. With companies growing interest in the network, the platform’s approach is to switch to the Facebook Ads model. New “Promoted Pin Options” are now available making it easier for Pinterest to rapidly grow its worldwide shares and dominate over the pictures sharing market on the web.

Here are few facts about Pinterest in 2015:

The businesses interest in LinkedIn is also growing rapidly. With over 364 million users, LinkedIn is the largest business network in the world. LinkedIn is pushing its users towards the subscription model and as you can see from the stats for their first quarter this year, they did really well:

  • Is social media sales going to continue to raise in the following years?
  • Will the social media platforms become more attractive to businesses than Google Adwords is?
  • What are going to be the new trends in social media?
  • Will there be a network that will grow bigger than Facebook any time soon?
